Event Guidelines

Help us keep ManxLife a valuable resource for the Isle of Man community

ManxLife is a community platform for discovering events across the Isle of Man. To maintain quality and help event-goers find what they're looking for, please follow these guidelines when submitting your events.

Do's
  • Use clear, descriptive event titles
  • Include accurate date, time, and location
  • Add a high-quality event image (min 800x600px)
  • Write a detailed description of what attendees can expect
  • Include ticket/pricing information if applicable
  • Specify if the event is family-friendly
  • Add contact information for enquiries
  • Update your listing if details change
Don'ts
  • Submit duplicate events
  • Use misleading titles or descriptions
  • Include offensive or inappropriate content
  • Post events outside the Isle of Man
  • Use low-quality or irrelevant images
  • Submit spam or promotional-only content
  • Include false pricing information

Event Titles & Descriptions

Your event title should be clear and descriptive. Avoid ALL CAPS or excessive punctuation. Include the event type (Concert, Workshop, Market, etc.) when helpful.

Good example: "Douglas Summer Jazz Festival 2024"
Bad example: "AMAZING EVENT!!! DON'T MISS IT!!!"

Descriptions should tell attendees what to expect, who the event is for, and any special requirements (booking, age restrictions, what to bring).

Event Images

  • Minimum resolution: 800x600 pixels
  • Recommended aspect ratio: 16:9 or 4:3
  • File formats: JPEG, PNG, or WebP
  • Maximum file size: 5MB
  • Use images you have rights to use
  • Avoid text-heavy images (they don't display well on mobile)

Dates & Timing

Be accurate with your event timing. Include the full date and time, and specify if doors open earlier than the event starts. For multi-day events, list all dates.

Events are displayed in local Isle of Man time (GMT/BST). Update your listing promptly if the event is postponed or cancelled.

Review Process

All submitted events are reviewed by our team before being published. This typically takes 24-48 hours. Events that don't meet our guidelines may be rejected or returned for edits. We'll contact you via email if there are any issues with your submission.
